Armed with wool, Mimi Kirchner transforms the malleable fabric into petite, pincushion dream worlds. The whimsical designs feature sweet cottages atop of hills, lighthouses and island homes encapsulated in dainty teacups, lending a cutesy edge to pincushions. The Massachusetts-stationed artist also has a penchant for retro-tinged dolls, creating a series of tattooed guys and gals, lumberjacks and animals.
Drawing up retro-doll illustrations on recycled fabric, and turning them into adorbs pincushions is just one aspect of this Aussie artist’s shop. She also creates sweet hair bows, cutesy wooden brooches and artsy prints of original drawings.
