Happy (almost) Valentine’s Day, everyone! Along with heart-shaped baking, this month, we’re running away with Daughter, want to make you and The Kooks happy, think you’re like “A Red, Red Rose,” fell a little bit in love with Lykke Li, joined PJ Harvey in remembering the first kiss and day dreamed with The Beach Boys. Dance around to the entire mixtape here, and have a wonderful, love-filled day! xo.

We’ve been following Paul Celentano and his whimsical custom instruments for a few years now and have continuously fallen in love with his work. Under the (apropos) handle, Celentano Woodworks, he handcrafts unique ukuleles, three-string guitars, banjos and mandolins, with the latest crop of designs highlighting the beauty of the string instrument’s traditional shape and natural colors, but with an added twist: playful sound hole cutouts and illustrations. The attention to detail put into each piece is mesmerizing — he’s creating works of art to make art on — which you can spy below and head on over to Mr. Celentano’s shop for more.
Things have been wonderfully busy around here — lots of future projects to share with you guys — so please pardon my absence! In the meantime, whilst working, I’ve been wishing for a pizza and a bottle of wine with Girls, falling in love with Neil Young (totally late on that one, but my lovely boyfriend got me a record player and I’ve been spinning his tunes all month), choosing “Razzle Dazzle Rose” as my color, singing along to Neutral Milk Hotel (In The Aeroplane Over The Sea never tires) and have “Motion Sickness” with Mr. Oberst. Come listen to the entire mixtape this way! xo, Nicole.

Merry Christmas, everyone!! Hope you’ve all had a lovely holiday season, while ours has been very very busy, this month we sipped hot chocolate with She & Him, were a “Christmas Unicorn” alongside Sufjan Stevens, swayed to somber holiday tunes by Frightened Rabbit and visited classics covered by faves like Conor Oberst + Co. Come dance around to the entire mixtape with us this way! xo, Nicole.

We can’t believe it’s November around here — time is speeding by! So, this month along with watching the leaves fall, we’re keeping cozy with a lovely cover by She & Him, are going to “Carolina” with the now disbanded Girls, wish we could fit in your suitcase alongside Coconut Records, want to “Take You On A Cruise” with Interpol and will help Seabear “Build You A Fire.” Make a cup of apple cider and sway along to the entire mixtape this way! xo.

Under the handle Raid71, artist Chris Thornley houses a bold collection of illustrations with one series playing to our Smiths-loving heart. Simply titled, The Smiths, the series transforms lyrics from Morrissey & Co. favorites like “Sheila Take A Bow” and “Ask” into Penguin Book covers, complete with the publishing company’s iconic use of color and typography. We’re totally swooning over these faux-novels, which we spotted thanks to The Paris Review, and if you adore The Smiths you will, too! Spy ‘em and listen to the tunes they were inspired by after the jump, and fingers crossed that Mr. Thornley releases them as prints soon.

If you couldn’t already tell, this is our favorite time of year — there’s just something so magical about October! In honor of the haunting season, this month, we want to run (not walk) with Angel Olsen, are a zombie for you with Dead Man’s Bones, are livin’ in a ”Devil Town” next to Bright Eyes, are gonna “bring ‘em all back to life” with Feist, are taking “Romance To The Grave” alongside Broken Social Scene and are singing about werewolves with Fiona Apple. Come dance with us and check out the entire mixtape peppered with Halloween-ey tunes this way! xo.
