Not too long ago, we swooned over Caitlin Shearer’s gorgeous printed dresses. Now, the Sydney-stationed artist revealed more adorable, illustrated textiles that she’s sewn into retro-style frocks and circle skirts. Carrying pretty patterns, Caitlin’s latest designs feature rainbow-hued girl scout badges, a vintage bunny figurine, mermaids and — our favorite — bows! Spy the lovely wearable art below, and be sure to check out Ms. Shearer’s shop to pick up your own limited edition piece.
Speaking of Julia Rothman, when the Brooklyn-stationed artist isn’t creating unique scarves, she joins the likes of Marc Johns in designing an adorable line of temporary tattoos for Tattly. Featuring kooky wrist watches that read “late” or “love,” beverages of the alcoholic and caffeinated variety, an array of best friend inspired ink and vintage pieces, it’s easy to see why we’re over the moon about these faux-tats. Rothman’s illustrations are executed beautifully enough to want on your skin, yet they carry an extremely playful aura that makes them perfect for mixing, matching and temporary wear. Spy a few of our favorite designs below, and hit up Tattly to see Ms. Rothman’s entire collection.
New Zealand illustrator and knitter (have you seen her lovely handmade mittens?) Sarah McNeil recently self-released a collection of ink drawings and ideas assembled into a cute little book. As the first art book McNeil has made, Start Small Pt. 1 catalogs moments from three years of the artist’s life, and if her zines/prints are any indication it’ll be chock full of darling illustrations and musings. We can’t wait for our copy to arrive, but in the meantime you can peek inside the petite, hand bound book below and purchase one of the limited edition pieces while you still can!
This year has been magical and challenging in too many ways to count. I can’t thank all of you enough for your support with this little blog and my shop — it truly means the world to me. As 2013 approaches I thought it’d be fun to remember some of what we did this year. Dig through ‘em below and have a lovely New Year’s Eve + Day. We’ll be back in 2013 — hope to see you there, too! xo, Nicole.

Along with decorating packages with pretty stamps, falling in love with these Smiths inspired posters, spying this magical illustration by Lucille Michieli and looking back at the last few days in photographs, this week, we created ornaments out of peanuts, adorned cupcakes with sparkly toppers, learned how to make a whimsical paper tree, had this Elliott Smith Beatles cover + this Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy & Dawn McCarthy holiday tune on repeat, and whipped up some Nutella pie pops — yum! Spy the rest of our little diary after the jump! xo.
It’s almost December, you guys! Before the “most wonderful time of the year” officially kicks off, Memi The Rainbow has created a lovely set of holiday apropos stamps to adorn envelopes, letters and wrapping paper with. The hand-carved collection features traditional Christmas staples — Santa Clause, gingerbread, trees and candy canes are all there — as well as whimsical pieces like toy horses, adorbs bear faces and pretty ornaments. Oh, and Patricia brought back her felt ornament tutorial, too! Start decorating your packages with these darling embellishments, which you can spy below, then head on over to Etsy for more.
Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! Things have been super busy around here — lots of crocheting + craftin’ going on and there will be some new holiday DIYs coming soon — but in the meantime here’s a glimpse inside the last few days. xo, Nicole.
