With the news making us oh-so-sad as of late, we thought it’d be nice to share some lovely things that brightened our days a bit early. Without further ado, this week we: dreamt of a pretty garden bag to hold our tools, fell in love with Dry Design’s simple + sweet packaging, wanted to fill our home with vintage-tinged felt bouquets, danced around to Camera Obscura’s latest song, wanted to hang darling porcelain planters off the wall and took to the oven to bake up peach crostatas. Spy the rest of our little diary after the jump. xo.
Along with wearing pastel bows in our hair, revisiting Emma Block’s Style Icon series, channeling Lolita with sunglasses by Tumbleweeds Handcraft and keeping our mugs cozy with these adorable knit sweaters, this week, we made a confetti wall, couldn’t wait to get our tickets to see She & Him + Camera Obscura, sewed an angel collar, learned how to hand print pillows, geeked out over new songs by Conor Oberst and Iron & Wine, and crafted origami hearts for Valentine’s Day. Spy the rest of our little diary after the jump. xo.
Masterminded by Beca Lewis Skeels and Doug Switalski, Tumbleweeds Handcraft features original wood veneer sunglasses. The couple hand crafts each pair out of their home in Chattanooga, TN with vintage style shapes that channel Lolita (how magical are their heart sunglasses?) and past silver screen stars of the 1950s and ’60s. Stop by the Tumbleweeds Handcraft shop to check out more, and spy a few of our favorite designs below.
While there’s many ways to doll-up your coffee in the morning, husband-wife team Nawanowe’s way might be our favorite. The pair have designed the cutest line of knit sweaters to keep your tea and coffee cups cozy. The “Mug Sweater” arose after a sad looking cup in their home inspired the idea, and the couple have gone on to create impeccably stitched knitwear for others to enjoy. Have a look at some of our favorite designs after the jump, and head on over to Nawanowe’s website for more or purchase a sweater here.
If you’re anything like us, then you’re always on the hunt for unique and cute kitchenware. Enter: Wood Ink, a handmade line of engraved wooden cutting boards masterminded by husband-wife duo Ryan and Ashleigh. The pair’s designs are nothing short of lovely, with custom initials in hearts, bunting flags, geometric patterns and tree trunks masterfully crafted onto their boards. Have a peek at some of our favorites below, then visit Wood Ink over on Etsy.
Back in June, we fell in love with Emma Block and her adorable illustrations, with her Style Icon collection striking a chord. The London-based artist has added more vintage-tinged art paying homage to the fashionable ladies of decades past, including Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, and the bewitching Stevie Nicks. Swoon over the wonderful prints below, and head on over to Ms. Block’s shop for more.
Along with dancing around to this month’s mixtape, spying adorable dresses by Caitlin Shearer and donning temporary tattoos by Julia Rothman, this week, we were mesmerized by a moon phases calendar, couldn’t wait to bake peach and red velvet donuts, dried flowers, wanted to cover our journals with Gemma Correll’s washi tape, swooned over Holly Miranda’s Yoko Ono cover + wanted to make a crochet beard à la Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, and learned how to craft vintage jukeboxes out of paper. Spy the rest of our little diary after the jump! xo, Nicole.
Things have been wonderfully busy around here — lots of future projects to share with you guys — so please pardon my absence! In the meantime, whilst working, I’ve been wishing for a pizza and a bottle of wine with Girls, falling in love with Neil Young (totally late on that one, but my lovely boyfriend got me a record player and I’ve been spinning his tunes all month), choosing “Razzle Dazzle Rose” as my color, singing along to Neutral Milk Hotel (In The Aeroplane Over The Sea never tires) and have “Motion Sickness” with Mr. Oberst. Come listen to the entire mixtape this way! xo, Nicole.
