Tattoos Inspired By Maurice Sendak’s ‘Where The Wild Things Are’

Jan 27th

When digging up tattoos for this week’s Where The Wild Things Are feature, I hadn’t expected to find such a plethora of amazing Maurice Sendak-channeling ink.  But alas, many people were inspired by the beloved children’s book — unsurprisingly so — and have immortalized their adoration with gorgeous tattoos depicting illustrated scenes and lovely little quotes. Published in 1963, Sendak’s imaginative illustrations and words instantly became a sensation amongst children and adults, set-backs be damned — the book was banned from libraries, but after high demand it found it’s way onto shelves — and has remained that way ever since. Whether they’re on arms, legs, feet, or backs, swoon over these magical full-color and grayscale Where The Wild Things Are tats after the jump.
